About

Why we built One Life Advisory.

We wanted financial planning to start with a person's life and the decisions they're trying to make. That means understanding what matters first, then figuring out how investments, income, insurance, taxes, and estate decisions fit together as life changes.

Why we exist

We started One Life Advisory because we kept seeing the same gap. People with real responsibility and real resources, but with a financial life made up of pieces that didn't add up to a plan. Cash flow that wasn't coordinated with the investments. Investments that weren't coordinated with the protection. Protection hadn't been looked at in years. Decisions made by default instead of on purpose. And a vague sense of where it was all going, but no clear answer to the question that actually matters: is this money supporting the life I want to live, now and for every year ahead?

We built One Life Advisory to close that gap. Planning, investments, protection, and the way taxes affect every move you make — all under one roof, all coordinated, all built around what you actually want out of this life.

What We Believe

The beliefs behind the work.

01

A plan should start with purpose, not products.

What you want your money to do is the foundation. Everything else is built on top of it. And every decision after that gets made on purpose, not by default or out of habit.

02

Everything connects to everything.

Cash flow affects investments. Investments affect taxes. Taxes affect what you can spend. Protection determines whether any of it survives the unexpected. We treat them as one plan because that's what they are.

03

Money is a tool, not the goal.

The goal is the life you want to live. The work we do is to make sure your money is good enough at its job that you can stop worrying about it and get on with the life.

How We Work

The plan comes first.

We start by understanding what you want your money to do and what you are trying to accomplish.

Once we understand that, we can decide what investment changes, insurance, retirement income strategies, or other planning decisions may make sense. Each recommendation should connect back to something specific in the plan.

The emphasis will be different for every client. Some situations require more work around retirement income. Others need more attention around investments, protection, taxes, or estate planning.

Where we spend our time depends on what matters most in your situation.

Justin Gartman

Lead Financial Advisor

Justin Gartman is a Lead Financial Advisor at One Life Advisory, where he works with individuals and families to help them make better decisions with their money and build a plan around the life they want to live.

A big part of his work is helping people align their money with their goals. Whether someone is still working toward retirement or already there, Justin helps clients understand what their money needs to do, how the different pieces of their financial life fit together, and what decisions can help move them toward where they want to go.

For people approaching retirement, that can mean figuring out when they can retire, how much income their savings can support, when to take Social Security, how their investments should be positioned, and how taxes and protection fit into the plan. For people already retired, the focus often shifts toward turning what they've built into a sustainable income plan while continuing to manage risk, taxes, investments, and the things they want to leave behind.

Justin believes people should understand their financial plan, not just follow a list of recommendations. He enjoys educating clients and taking the time to explain the why behind a decision. Ultimately, he wants his clients to feel confident that their money is taken care of so they can spend less time worrying about it and more time living their life.

Justin is an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) with One Life Advisory and has passed the NASAA Series 65, Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination. He also holds the Registered Social Security Analyst® (RSSA®) and Certified Annuity Specialist® (CAS®) designations.

He lives in Coleman, Texas, with his wife and their four young kids who are a joy and keep him plenty busy when he's not in the office working with clients.
